THE STORY OF SCULPIN

A TESTAMENT TO OUR HOMEBREW ROOTS

Our Sculpin IPA is a great example of what got us into brewing in the first place. This brew originated as a challenge to combine George Cataulin’s and Doug Duffield’s IPA recipes. The first iteration, North Star IPA, was an instant hit. After years of experimenting, we knew hopping an ale at five separate stages would produce something special.

THE ART OF A NAME
Resident artist Paul Elder loved North Star IPA from the start. Surprised to hear this easy-drinking beer came in at 7%, he was inspired to name it after a fish that also packs a sting: Sculpin. In his own words, "just like the Sculpin, you wouldn't think it could do so much damage. If you aren't careful, it will sting you." And so the legendary Sculpin was born.

SCULPIN OVER THE YEARS

Sculpin has been through some changes over the years but a couple things have remained the same – the art and the liquid.

SCULPIN TODAY

Our gold-medal winning IPA with a distinct hop profile. This brew has hints of apricot, peach, mango and lemon flavors, but still packs a bit of a sting, just like a Sculpin fish.
